Welcome to Park Check-in (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what
information we process, how and why we process it, and your choices and rights.
Key point: The App is designed to work primarily on-device. Unless explicitly
stated in this Policy, we do not upload your location history, your photos, or
photo-related information to any server, and we do not share such information with third parties.
1. Who We Are
The App is developed and operated by an individual developer (“we”, “us”).

2. Information We Process
2.1 Location Information (with your permission)
- Map display: to show your current position on the map (if enabled).
- City detection: to determine your current city for relevant park listings and progress.
- Automatic location check-in (optional): if you enable this feature, the App evaluates on-device whether you have stayed within a park area long enough to record a visit.
Note: The App does not require continuous tracking for server-side analytics. Location is used for on-device functionality only.
2.2 Photo Library Related Information (with your permission)
- Photo capture time: to determine “new photos” and associate check-ins with time.
- Photo location metadata (if present): to match photos to parks on-device and create a local photo-linked check-in.
Note: We do not perform face recognition or photo content analysis for identifying people/objects. Matching relies on time/location metadata when available.
2.3 In-app Records and Preferences
- Check-in records: visited parks, visit counts (deduplicated by day), photo links.
- Points/level/titles/achievements: to display progression and milestones.
- Settings: e.g., map style, display options, whether auto-scan/auto check-in is enabled.
3. How We Use the Information
We use the information strictly to provide the App’s core functions, including:
- Displaying map, lists, progress and statistics;
- Creating check-in records (manual, photo-linked, or location-based where enabled);
- Calculating points, levels, titles and achievements;
- Providing optional features such as incremental photo scanning and automatic location check-in when enabled and permitted.
4. Processing Scope and Method
- On-device processing: matching and calculations are performed on your device.
- Data minimization: we process only what is necessary for the features you use.
- No profiling for ads: we do not use your location or photo information for advertising or profiling.
5. Sharing, Transfer, and Public Disclosure
We do not share, transfer, or publicly disclose your location history, your photos, or photo-related information to any third party.
We do not upload such information to any server.
6. Storage
Your check-in records, progress data, scan state and settings are stored locally on your device. The App does not require an account and does not provide server sync.
7. Permissions and Controls
You can manage permissions at any time in the iOS system settings:
- If you disable location permission, map positioning and location-based check-in may not work.
- If you disable photo library permission, the App cannot scan for new photos or create photo-linked check-ins.
8. Children
The App is intended for general audiences. If you are a minor, please use the App under the guidance of a parent/guardian.
9. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will provide notice by updating in-app information and/or release notes.
